Summary Bio

Derek Croote, PhD is an action-oriented biotech executive, entrepreneur, and technical leader with responsibilities spanning management, corporate strategy, intellectual property, scientific communication, technology development, basic research, and software engineering, including bioinformatic pipeline development and AI implementations.

In my current role as co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of IgGenix, I am developing transformative therapies for individuals suffering from allergies. Our internally developed peanut allergy therapeutic, IGNX001, completed a Phase 1 clinical trial in November 2025. I wrote about the study launch here.

Speaker Bio

Derek Croote, PhD is an executive, scientist, entrepreneur, and technical leader with over a decade of experience advancing research that improves human health. Trained in bioengineering at Stanford University (PhD, MS) and Brown University (BS), he co-founded and serves as CTO of IgGenix, a clinical-stage antibody therapeutics company. There he plays a central role in strategy, vision, fundraising, and execution that brought IgGenix from inception to a Phase 1 clinical trial of its novel peanut allergy therapeutic IGNX001 in just over 5 years. His other scientific contributions include publications in top journals such as Science and Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, five issued U.S. patents, and invited presentations at leading international conferences. Derek is also a Board member of the nonprofit SETD1B Research Foundation where he serves as Head of Scientific Strategy. Beyond the lab, Derek has mentored high school students, graduate fellows, and NSF applicants, contributed to open-source software, and served as a peer reviewer for leading scientific journals.
